SnapLens is a browser extension designed to help users quickly snip screenshots from webpages, copy them to the clipboard, and open visual search tools like Google Lens or Bing Visual Search for manual pasting and searching. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring that your data remains secure and local to your device.
- No Personal Data Collected: SnapLens does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information, such as your name, email address, browsing history, IP address, or any other identifiers.
- Local Screenshot Data: When you use the snip feature, the extension temporarily processes screenshot data (images of the current tab) on your device to enable copying to the clipboard. This data is not saved, sent, or shared with third parties.
- No Tracking: The extension does not use cookies, analytics tools, or any tracking mechanisms to monitor your usage or behavior.
- Local Processing Only: All functionality (snipping and copying) happens entirely on your device. No data is uploaded or processed remotely.
- Clipboard Access: The extension uses your device's clipboard to copy the snipped image. This is done with your explicit action (clicking the "Snip & Copy" button) and is not automatic.
- Search Integration: When you click "Search in Google Lens" or "Search in Bing", the extension only opens the respective website in a new tab. You manually paste the image from your clipboard. SnapLens does not interact with, send data to, or track your searches on these sites.
- No Sharing: We do not share, sell, or disclose any data from the extension to third parties, including advertisers, partners, or service providers.
- No Servers: SnapLens does not connect to any external servers or APIs controlled by us. All operations are local.
- Local Only: Since no data leaves your device, the extension minimizes security risks. However, be cautious with what you snip, as the clipboard can be accessed by other apps on your device.
- Permissions: The extension uses minimal permissions (e.g., activeTab for capturing the current tab, clipboardWrite for copying images) to function. These are necessary and used only for the core features.
- No Storage: The extension does not store screenshots or any data persistently on your device.
- The extension opens third-party websites (Google Lens and Bing Visual Search) when you click the search buttons. Your interactions with these sites are governed by their respective privacy policies (Google: https://policies.google.com/privacy, Bing: https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement). SnapLens does not track or collect data from these interactions.
- SnapLens is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
- We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected here with a new effective date. Continued use of the extension constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
